An Activity is a unit of distributed work that may or may not be transactional. During its lifetime an Activity may have transactional and non-transactional periods. Every entity, including other Activities, can be part of an Activity, although an Activity need not be composed of other Activities. An Activity is used to carry transactional and other essential specifications of the application s contract with its middleware. Demarcation signals of any kind are communicated to any registered entities (actions) through signals.
